On the most beautiful and biggest island in the Adriatic Sea – Krk – there is Njivice, once a small fishermen’s village and nowadays a famous tourist resort for visitors from Europe as well as other parts of the world. From the Antique Roman time Krk has been known as Golden Island because of its natural beauties, location and natural resources. In the past centuries Njivice was a small village whose population mainly worked as fishermen, cultivated olives, raised cattle or exploited the forest. For the first time it was mentioned as a village in the 15th century, however, there are some remains from the Antique Roman culture. It is located on the west coast of Krk in Beli Kamik bay.

The island of Krk is connected to the mainland with a bridge, which provides an easy arrival. Distances from the border passes with Slovenia and Italy are short so that you need less than one hour driving. Roads and signaling are very good and you can reach your destination fast and easily. Another advantage is a very short distance of only 10 km from Airport Rijeka to Njivice.

Whether you prefer quiet or dynamic holidays, Njivice – a small and picturesque town – can offer both. With a lot of small coffee shops and restaurants placed a few metres from the seaside you could feel like in the centre of the world, whereas by just a few minutes walk from that point you can reach intact nature. The central beach in Njivice is awarded with the blue flag, which means that it respects the International programme: CLEAN SEA – CLEAN ENVIRONMENT – CARE FOR REGION.

If you love long walks along the seaside, cycling or simply being in the nature, there is a nice coastal promenade through the pine woods 20 km long.
If you prefer active holidays there are: a cycling track through the island, tennis and mini golf courses, table tennis tables, playgrounds for basketball, volleyball and football. You can also enjoy a game of Boules, speed boat riding, water-jet riding, water-skiing, surfing, paragliding or horse riding.
Krk is rich with natural beauties and caves. Along the coast there are very nice sandy, gravel and rocky beaches surrounded with rich vegetation. It is very pleasant to be in the shade of pine trees in hot summer days. Another interesting place to visit very close to Njivice is Soline beach with medical mud.

Preservation of a thousand year’s tradition is something very important on the island of Krk. High quality wine production – Vrbnicka Zlahtina – and olive oil production are the most important parts and worth seeing. Fishermen’s festivals, where you can feel traditional hospitality of local people and taste gastronomic specialties of this region, also belong to traditional values of the island.
